Modernidade?‏

(From last week - December 2)
This past week was pretty slow, if not boring. We spent one whole day at the hospital while Sister Souza took some tests to see if she has asthma or a breathing problem as she´s had some struggles in our area full of hills. It happened to be Thanksgiving Day when we went, and I had completely forgotten. While we were sitting in the waiting room the movie "Meet the Parents" was playing on the television, the movie takes place Thanksgiving weekend. Then all of a sudden I remembered and got a little homesick, but it passed. The Doctor concluded that Sister Souza has "nothing". Wow, I really would like to get paid $200 an hour to tell people they´re perfectly fine. She got a reference to a specialist, but so far we haven´t marked any appointments. She seems to be trucking along just fine this week.

This past week our goal was to find new people, as many of our old references have become "lazy" investigators and the time came to drop them. We struggled a little, but gathered up some old references from the site, from the Sisters that closed this area in the Area Book, recent converts that are less active and their non-member family members and some from Elders during a Contact Activity we held in our area three months ago. We ended up finding 12 people Saturday and Sunday, and 4 more yesterday. It got a little tiring teaching six 1st lessons in three days. Sometimes I feel like a broken record after teaching the same thing so many times in such a short time, but the trick is to follow the Spirit and change the lesson a little with each person to apply to their level of understanding and interest, and also what the Spirit tells you what to say. We have high goals for this week as it is the last of this transfer. We are hoping to find 15 new people and to create a whole new teaching group for the next six weeks. Don´t worry folks about our progressing investigators- Patricia and Anderson, Claudia and Jackson and other families. They´re doing great, and slowely working towards knowing the church better and preparing for baptism. We do not have any baptisms marked for any time soon, but miracles do happen, so sit tight!

Today we returned to Parque Ibirapuera. We invited members and Sisters from another area, but everyone cancelled on us at 9:30 last night. This time we went to the Museum of Modern Art. Sister Sousa was not so amused as she said she didn´t understand any of it. We did find a cool exhibit where an artist put all of his photographs on digital mat´s. You could pick eight mats and make your own miniture art book. It´s hard to explain, but i´ll show it to you all after the mission. Sister Sousa was cookoo to rent some rollerblades and skate around. Someone had told her you could rent, but after searching around for a half hour or so we were informed there was no rental, just a space to skate around with your personal rollerblades. She got really bummed out, so we decided to call it a day.

Well folks, I´ve run out of things to say. The mission´s awesome, I´m loving it. So that´s that. Send me your Christmas cards!!

Have an awesome week everyone!
